Just a
little blog to let you enjoy the morning sun on the freshly made elderflower syrup (fläderblomssirap - vlierbloesemsiroop). In the pots I left some flowers and lemon slices. It looks great the gold from the morning sun combined with the gold straight from our garden.
Although most
of the syrup we poured out in little bottles. We even filled some plastic bags
for ice cubes and froze them. Funny how you can fill these bags and then, hocus pocus pas (like the
wizards say in Flemish), you turn the bag upside down and no drop is coming out
any more???????
Here are the frozen ice cubes.
Make some tea from 30 to 40 freshly picked flowers screens and 2 sliced organic lemon in 1 liter of water (Boil water and once boiled you put the flowers in the boiled water.) Let the tea rest for a day on a cool place. Filter all the flowers and lemons away. Add 800 g of sugar. And then you can choose. If you wish a nice bowl you pour some syrup in the bowl, you take some fresh flowers and some lemon slices too and you sterilise it before putting it in your cupboard. Or you just keep it cool and poor it out in some recipient to put it in the freezer as tasteful ice cubes.
Be sure, not only the children will like it.
Oh and don't throw away the lemon slices. They are kind of confit. Use them in a cake or something like that. They taste wonderful.
