Yes, it is
already mentioned. We have found that we had some kind of basement under a small part
of our house. And we could take some vague pictures through a little ventilation
hatch. For the insurances we needed to have some better view on the inner
side. So a big hole was needed.
This one you have already seen.
I took
my bore hammer and drilled away some Siporex stones build in the former door opening. So the little basement became visible. Here it is, the big hole. Big enough to enter our secret room.
It turned out as again exploring the old ways of living. And again more questions than answers. What is the meaning of this (secret) room?
In the back there was a strange
container. Was it a treasury chest (in my dreams of course...) hidden in the obscurity of the most far away corner? So when the hole was big enough to enter, I could
take a closer look. It turned out to be some kind of stone tank. Open at the
upside and under in the tank the is a little tube coming in the tank. Or is it
going out?
The floor of the basement is made of smaller boulders. Diagonal there
is a runnel were clearly recently last months has been running some water
through. What on earth was the function of this room. Washing room?
The wall I took away turns out to be the upper side of a door. The lower side was filled with concrete and is at the outside under the ground. So the room was in fact under the ground. Or was the ground outside brought up?
The little ventilation hatch was in fact a remnant of the former window.
Now we have
to find out what we will do with the hole. Close it after inspection, make a
door as it is now, or digging and breaking the whole door out and have a full usable
basement (although somewhat humid). We will also need to contact the municipality to know what is allowed.
I did some small photoshopping to have a view on how it would look if we put an old style door in it.
It was fun
enough to tell the children I had found a skeleton from a person who was prisoned
in this secret room although I only found the skull of a rat.
